The Concept
My thesis is a communication project in collaboration with Libera, an association dedicated to fighting against the mafia. The main objective of this project is to organize a series of workshops aimed at raising awareness among high school students about the negative impact of the mafia on Italian society.
Di bene in meglio specifically educates young people about the modern structure of organized crime, with a particular focus on assets that have been confiscated from the mafia. In doing so, the project provides concrete examples of how these criminal organizations have infiltrated the socio-economic fabric on both a national and regional level. Additionally, the project highlights the benefits of restoring these confiscated assets to the community through their social reuse. Ultimately, the goal is to help students understand the importance of combating organized crime and the positive social impact that results from the conversion of confiscated assets.
Process blueprint
The workshop follows a structured approach, beginning with a general overview of the national situation before delving into specific aspects, focusing on the context in Tuscany. It combines traditional lecture-style presentations to impart foundational knowledge with group discussions to encourage active participation, as well as practical activities to reinforce the concepts presented. By employing these varied teaching methods, the workshop aims to offer a comprehensive learning experience for the participants.
Educational game
The educational game involves redesigning an industrial warehouse in Donoratico, which was confiscated from the ‘Ndrangheta in 2019. It simulates the process of reassignment of assets and highlights the challenges that arise when repurposing assets confiscated from the Mafia. The objective is to help students understand the benefits of returning confiscated assets to the community, allowing them to experience the social and creative potential involved. To win the game, students must propose activities that meet the needs of the Donoratico community.
